The BALLERINA initiative was initially proposed by UNEP/GRID-Arendal, strongly inspired by the Great Lakes Information Network, GLIN. Funding for BALLERINA development and activities has since 1996 been provided by the Environment and Natural Resources Information Network (ENRIN) project of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), the European Environment Agency, the Infodev Programme of the WorldBank, the Norwegian Ministry of Environment, the Swedish Ministry of Environment and the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency. |
